SATURDAY, JUNE 16, 2018 VANCOUVERSUN C5 OBITUARIES WILLIAMS, Blanche Therese June 15, 1928 -June 6, 2018 It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Mom has gone to join our Dad Gord. She leaves behind her daughter Brenda(Tom), son Ron, daughter Julie(Ernie), son Dan and her grandchildren Amber, Mitchell, Chad, Sean, ChelseyandCheyenne. Momwillalso be missed by many family members and friends, including her Mulberry family. Mom had a unique quality of connecting with people wherever she went and she cherished her friendships. No service by request.

SHERLING, Norm On May 21, 2018, at Crossroads Hospice, Norm lost his battle with Lymphoma. He had caught his last fish, climbed his last mountain, given away his decoys and went "Over the Rainbow Bridge" to meet up with his dogs, the old Norse Legend, says would be waiting! Norm was born in his grandparent's farmhouse near Montmartre, Sask. He was the son of Don and Kay Sherling who were long time residents of Cranbrook, B.C. Norm graduated from Mount Baker High School and he went on to U.B.C, where, in 1959, he received his degree in Mechanical Engineering. An avid curler for many years, Norm was the first president of the newly opened Port Moody Curling Club and very active in the training of many new curlers as well as starting the Junior Curling Program.

He was also Chairman of the Prostate Cancer Support Group for the Tri-Cities for 15 Years. Norm is survived by his wife of 58 years, Noreen; sons, Mark (Neelam), Grant (Leslie) and much loved granddaughter Rachel. There will be an informal gathering on Sunday, June 24, from 1-4 p.m. at the Pitt Meadows Golf Course, 13615 Harris Rd. Pitt Meadows.

THOMPSON, Stewart Frederick August 11, 1932- June 12, 2018 It is with tremendous sadness that the family of Stewart Fredrick Thompson announce his recent passing. Born in Saskatoon to William James and Charlotte (nee Seuberlich) and older brother to Donald James all of whom are predeceased.

Stew, as he was known to many, is deeply missed by his wife Joan (nee Gillanders) of 63 years, sons Brad (Cathy) Craig (Bronwen), daughters Joann Jennifer (Nick), grandchildren Jonathon (Alana), Meghan, Spencer, Quinn, Bayley (Jamil), Samantha, Mitchell, Hallie and great grandchildren Kennedy and Presley. Stew was a proud member of the RCMP where he had a long and illustrious 36 year career prior until his retirement in 1988. He rose to the rank of Superintendent and over his career had several postings a II over BC, Cape Breton, NSand Ottawa, Ont. with his final posting in North Vancouver, BCasthe OIC (Officer in Charge). His son Brad followed in his footsteps and also had a long esteemed career in the force.

10-35 Sir. He was a very good man, a fine friend, respected officer, the best dad, fun Papa and a better husband. He will be deeply missed by so many. He enjoyed relative good health throughout his life and did his best to live it to the fullest. Right up to the end he and Joan lived independently and he would drive to get his errands done, cook daily meals and generally keep busy.

He was hospitalized a week prior to his death and was admitted to Eagle Ridge Hospital in his home community of Port Moody, BC. Our family is greatly appreciative of the care provided to him while in the hospital and for the care team who were compassionate and very helpful to us all. By request there will be no service and a Celebration of Life is to be arranged soon If you wish to attend please let Craig know by emailing him at craiglshaw.ca TILLEY, David James October 27, 1971 June 9, 2018 It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden death of David, our beloved husband, son, brother and uncle, following a tragic car accident in Victoria B.C. David is survived by Justine, his lovingwifeof 18 years, parents Ruthand Bruce Tilley, brother John (Nancy) and their son Stephen, brothers in-law Duncan O'Mahony (Shandalin)and their son Cormac, Quentin O'Mahony (Kaoru) and their sons Brendan and Lliam, and mother in -law Olive O'Mahony (Justin deceased). Dave was a sports enthusiast, a Canucks, Whitecaps and Buffalo Bills fan.

With a passion for stats and numbers he loved calculating the sports odds and placing the occasional bet. He enjoyed travelling the world with Justine. He adored each of his nephews and loved playing the silly uncle. He was a Chartered Professional Accountant and spent 21 years working at TELUS. He leaves behind a large circle of family and friends from Newfoundland to B.C.

TREMAIN, Judith Ann April 16, 1949 -May 22, 2018 Judy passed away suddenly on May 22 2018, predeceased by her Father Samuel Robert Tremain, and her Mother Eleanor Emily Tremain, Surviving siblings Penney Tremain and Robert Tremain. Her passing comes with a great shock and loss of our warm and loving sister. Services have yet to be ina lized, and refer to Victory Memorial Park website for condolences.

Life's Greatest Gift: Remembrance Vancouver Sun TULLY, William Sidney December 15, 1928 June 6, 2018 TULLY, William (Bill) Sidney B.A., B.G.S., F.I.I.C. December 15, 1928 June 6, 2018 We are sad to tell you that a very special man has gone from our lives. William (Bill) was born and raised with his beloved and dedicated sister Barbara, and educated in Leith, Scotland. In 1951 he left for Jeddah, Saudi Arabia to be employed by a London firm in several capacities, until his return to Scotland in December 1953. January of 1954 he was employed in London, England as an insurance underwriter where he spent the next few years, not just learning his profession, but enjoying the many thrills London had to offer, including playing rugby for London Scottish.

Bill met the love of his life Susan in London, in June of 1957. However, Bill had already decided prior to meeting Susan to emigrate to Vancouver, Canada. One year later Susan emigrated to Vancouver to join Bill. They were married in St.Anselm'sAnglicanChurch,May31, 1958. He held various positions in Vancouver, and at his retirement was Director of Risk Insurance for Fletcher Challenge (New Zealand), previously known as BC Forest Products.

Upon his retirement, Bill entered the Seniors Studies programs at SFU and later at UBC, where he obtained his Bachelor of General studies degree and in 2009, at the ageof 80, hegraduated with his Bachelorof Arts in History. Susan and Bill spent all of their 52 years together in Vancouver. They traveled to parts of Canada, United States, Europe and Australia. Bill leaves behind his daughters, Sarah (Brian) and Kate, as well as his dearly loved grandson Matthew (Emma), his nephew Lee Potter (Liz), Adeline his grand niece who meant so much to him. His brother in law Anthony Powell of London, England.

He was a loving father, and his children and grandson were his greatest joy. The family would like to express our thanks and deep appreciation to both Dr. Vilinel, and Dr Lee for their care over the past 14 months. Appreciation and thanks to Dr. Hunt and Dr.

Fowler at Lions Gate Hospital in Palliative Care 7th Floor West, for the last 3 weeks, including the outstanding nurses. (Hubba Hubba Ding Ding). Bill's dear friends Barb, Patand Rusty, fortheirloveand support. Not forgetting his loving caregiver Bridgette, who did such a wonderful job taking care of him. He so looked forward to seeing Brigette each morning, and they loved singing songs together.

December 13, 1931 June7, 2018 Betty was born in New Westminster and passed peacefully at UBC Purdy Pavilion, after a short illness. She was a lifelong librarian working at the University of Toronto Library, and the Seattle Public Library. Betty had published many distinguished articles, and her books were generally autobiographical. She was a lovely, generous woman, a humorist and a satirist. Requiem mass will be celebrated Tuesday, June 19 at 11 a.m.

Mom was predeceased by her beloved husband Bob in June 2004 and is survived by her loving family: Barbara (Angelo), Brenda (John), Byron (Sandra Beverley (Darrel), ten Grandchildren and one Great Grandchild who will carry on the Weese family traditions and cherish the memories created. Sharleen was born to parents Charles (Len) Corbett and Roselind (Rose) Corbett in Victoria, B.C. As the daughter of a navy officer, Sharleen moved to Nova Scotia where she met and married the love of her life and best friend Douglas (Doug) Rudolph on September 3, 1960. They moved to Vancouver where they raised their 2 children Rick and Cathy. Shar as she was known to her friends and family or Mom as she was known to her children's friends, always had an open door policy. She set an extra place at the table or she took people in when they needed some love, guidance or just a little support in their time of need.

Shar was a long term Safeway employee and union shop steward where she made many friends. She was artistic, creative and enjoyed puzzles. Shar loved cooking and spending time with her family and friends the most. She was free-spirited and truly full of life and love. Shar was predeceased by her loving parents Len and Rose Corbett.

She leaves behind her husband and best friend of 58 years Douglas Rudolph, her son Douglas (Rick) Rudolph, daughter Catherine (Cathy) Shannon (nee Rudolph), light of her life and only granddaughter Brittany (Mike) Shannon-Giles, Brittany's father Mike Shannon, her brother Brian (Linda) Corbett as well as many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and countless friends. Jean was born in Erickson, Manitoba. Married her high school sweetheart, and husband of 59 years. Long time residents of Burnaby. Jean had a passion for playing cards, knitting, quilting, and doing puzzles.

In lieuof flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice. 31 WILSON, Eunice 1925-2018 Eunice was born Dec 11, 1925 in Calgary to John Dagma Wade. Class of '47 of she graduated with a BSc and earned her Lab Tech (RMT) designation.

Her career began at Deere Lodge Hospital, Winnipeg, and in her spare time she took up flying, where she met her late husband Richard. The Wilsons settled in Vancouver in 1956 and raised their family. Eunice loved music, reading, bird watching, and traveling. There were many safaris with sister Vera. She' 1 1 be lovingly remembered by children Carol Richard (Csilla), grandchildren Douglas, Christopher, Annika Derek, as well as nieces nephews.

Thank you to the staff at Langley Gardens for the wonderful care compassion Mom received the last few years of her life. Cl 504 573 WILSON, Stanley B. 1921-2018 Stan passed away peacefully on Friday, May 25, 2018 in his 97th year. When Stan turned 60, he said he "was only going to live for another five years." Stan was predeceased by his wife Dorothy; younger brother Richard and eldest son Robert. Stanley is survived by his two children Gordon and Patricia; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and their spouses.

Stanley served in the Canadian Army during World War II, R.C.E.M.E. 1942-1946 and took part in the D-Day Invasion. After the war he worked for Finning Caterpillar. Stanley then went to work for the Burnaby Fire Department until his retirement as the Chief of Fire Prevention. The family would like to thank the staff at George Derby care home (main south).

Born in Prince Rupert, her parents Sam and Edith moved to Vancouverwhen Roxanne was only one week old. Although not having children of her own, she loved participating in the lives of young children to make a positive impact on them.

Over the last several years, Roxanne's ability to walk and speak were slowly lost. But we celebrate now, knowing that she is dancing and singing in heaven. A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 23 at at The Salvation Army Southmount Citadel 3403 E. 49th Ave, Vancouver. ZURSCHMIEDE, Kenneth George Sept. 4, 1964 -May 29, 2018 Ken passed away after a very short battle with cancer. He had a wonderful combination of energy, intelligence and goodwill. Ken's humor and direct way of dealing with things hid a kind heart. He was known to have a strong will and loved nature and animals.

SHUGG, Alexander Gordon May 2, 1920 -June 8, 2018 At 98, after an abundant and active life, a true gentleman died peacefully at home with family by his side. Gord was predeceased by Mae(Munro) in 2005, his wife of 58 years; his sons, Robin2011and Glenn in 2014; brothers Bill and Harold; sisters-in-law Eleanorand Margaret.

He was born in Kelowna, thesecond son of William and Elsie Shugg. He moved to Vancouver in 1939 to join Union Steamship Co. as an apprentice machinist. He en listed with the RCAFin 1941, flying as navigator on Avro Lancasters. Post war, Gord attended UBC, graduating in 1950 with BASc Mechanical.

Summer wages were earned working as a tugboat engineer. Following graduation he worked across the country for General Motors Diesel, starting in Vancouver, then London, Calgary, ending in Vancouver. Here, he joined Douglas Power Equipment-F. D.Bolton as the general manager until his retirement in 1986. A totally devoted family man, a multi-talented handyman and enthusiastic participant in community organizations, Gord was a founding member of the Hollyburn Sailing Club, active on the executive and as Commodore, President of the Vancouver Electric Club, and active member of WVYC.

Apassionatesailor, Gordstarted off racing Sabots and then on to a sloop. CAORA provided the opportunities for many happy island cruising adventures, complete with family and friends. Gord and Maealso enjoyed lots of road trips to Alberta, sharing their love, laughter, fun and talents with their children and grandchildren. A daily walking habit no doubt contributed to his longevity. His mind was keen and inquisitive, using modern technology to stay connected to family and friends.

Gordon, also affectionately known as Grandad, is lovingly remembered by his daughter Pam (Rick Killam), sister Margaret, stepsisters Merilyn(Ross) and Carol, sister-in-law Mae, daughters-in-law Karen and Carmel, grandchildren Caeri, Teresa (Dave), Darren (Christine), Jennifer, David, Kelsey.andAlexa, great grandchildren Erik, Brady, Sawyer, Mike, Kate, Beth, Bennett, Lucie, and Maeve, extended family and friends. The family thanks Dr. John Corey and the North Shore Coastal Health Home Support and Pa I liative Care Team for enabling him to live independently at home. SPECKMAN, Norma June 10, 1956 -June 01, 2018 Norma passed away suddenly and peacefully on Friday June 01, 2018 in her 61st year. She was born in Vancouver but lived her entire lifein Burnaby. Shewas pre-deceased by her parents George and LorieneSpeckman. She is survived by her loving husband Shawn, her devoted God daughter Maria, Maria's son Cody, her own brothers Allan, Brian (Pat) and John. Her nephew Tyler and niece Ashley (Byron) and great nephew Elias.

Her step children Debra, Winona, Todd, step grandchildren Melissa, Tasha, Michaeland step great grandson Anthony. Norma also leaves many extended family and friends who loved and cared for her. Norma 's commitment to her faith guided every aspect of her life. Norma loved to bake and cook and hosted many gatherings for both family and friends. Her quick wit and smile will be missed by many, especially her loving husband Shawn and brother John.
